Review: (#1) Why they chose to use a dark motif for a kids movie is anyone’s guess, but there are enough interesting details here to counteract all the generic ones that it almost works.

(#2) There are lots of details here and it should generally engage a passing kid who might find this concept of a film interesting. (#3) While there aren’t necessarily fewer details here, it feels that way, though it’s not too dissimilar form the prior design. (#4) The knights and Merlin have never felt so out of place or uninteresting. It might be the terrible pose or the vacant backdrop or both. (#5-#8) These character posters have that empty backdrop, which makes them all feel unappealing. The various poses do not help.

Trailer Rating: C+ / C+

Review: (#1) If you’re a kid this trailer probably pushed all the right buttons. As an adult, you probably wonder what will be in it for you. The trailer doesn’t suggest a lot of stuff for the non-kid audience, but there are a few references that could entice them to take their children to see it and sit through the potential wreck of a film.

(#2) I’ve seen these trailers too often in the theater to distinguish them from one another. There aren’t a lot of major differences between the two, so they feel like one and new trailers shouldn’t feel like that.

Oscar Prospects:

None.
