Review: (#1) This is similar to the teaser (second) design, but overpacks the image.

(#2) I can’t really fault the design on this as it evokes the kind of building environment we would expect from a film about Legos.

(#3) Where they were going with this particular design is anyone’s guess. It almost seems like a teaser that would precede the teaser. Waste of printed paper.

(#4-#9) Attempting to tackle the epidemic of character posters, The Lego Movie stays true to its nature and does the same thing with different constructed realities in the background for each character. The characters are too large and dominant to make the posters very interesting.

(#10-#15) More character designs that look like they might be precursors to the set pictured #4-#9. With bigger faces and no background, these are utterly wasteful.

Review: How could a giant advertising ploy go wrong? They’ve conquered the video game sphere and now they are attempting to make headway into motion pictures. This trailer doesn’t look particularly entertaining and only highlights the sheer money-grab the film appears to be.

(#2) Once they’ve established themselves as a money grab, the only place they could possibly go is trying to make the movie look funny. They do a pretty good job at that, but you can’t help but wonder how much of this film will be instantly turned around into far-overpriced constructable toys. Wait. I saw some this weekend, so obviously not long.

Oscar Prospects:

It should make it onto the eligibility list for Best Animated Feature, but I doubt it goes any farther than that.
