Review: (#1) A satisfying teaser that taps into the familiarity of the original Vacation movies without being overly busy.

(#2) This is an atypical primary poster design, though it could work given the film’s style and lack of inventiveness. (#3-#5) These three designs take brief looks into a few of the familiar scenes from the trailers, telling us almost nothing about the story and ultimately finding no new ground to tread. (#6) Fitting for this generation, this selfie disaster pic encapsulates the film fairly well even if it’s not particularly originally or exceptionally creative.

Trailer Rating: B+ / B

Review: (#1) While I expect the film to fail in comparison to the original, there is enough in this trailer to suggest that it won’t be too far off the original’s zany antics. The Chris Hemsworth underwear scene was overplayed, though, which suggests it will be far more juvenile than the original.

(#2) The R-rated trailer for this film gives us a few glimpses of what the comedy in the film would look like beyond the PG-13-friendly first trailer. It gives us a few new scenes and better showcases some of the talent involved, but there aren’t enough laugh-out-loud moments to give a casual viewer more than a passing interest in the film.

Oscar Prospects:

None.
