Review: (#1) We’ve seen similar blood-tinged designs in the past and this doesn’t stand out much from them other than the “music box” at the center of the design, which is important, but unable to tie the whole thing together.

(#2) When creating a poster like this, sometimes it’s good to root it in reality. Pulling the female protagonist, saddened as she is, out of reality and into a chintzy background design, makes the whole affair feel cheap. (#3) A handful of elements from prior designs paired with big lettering and a blank black background. This is an example of how not to mess with an already weak design.

Trailer Rating: B- / C / B-

Review: (#1 & #2) These two trailers are largely similar, where they differ is in presenting more information in the second trailer that eliminates some of the mystery of the first trailer. There are some interesting concepts at play here, but the second trailer does a disservice to the whole affair by making it seem ultimately generic.

(#3) There are a few new elements to this trailer than in prior efforts, but they don’t improve or degrade the experience. The concept is still interesting and the potential still real, but there’s a grim air of unoriginality still.

Oscar Prospects:

None.
