Apart from the third film, which opened below the second, each new The Fast & the Furious franchise entry has outperformed the previous in terms of opening weekend. The first film beats the second and third in terms of overall box office, but it largely holds true there as well. The seventh film earned $147 million. This entry will either improve on that, which seems like a stretch, or will do worse, but still top the sixth film’s $97 million. That said, it’s clear the film will earn the top spot at the box office as there is no other competition.

Wesley Lovell (WL): I haven’t been interested in a single one of these films. Eight films into the series doesn’t give me much interest in catching up either. |

Wesley Lovell (WL): I like Richard Gere’s late-career work, but this doesn’t look like something I’d be too intrigued by. |

Wesley Lovell (WL): Apart from Cynthia Nixon’s performance, I can’t say there’s much about this generic period film that fascinates me. |

Wesley Lovell (WL): A period golf film. The Legend of Bagger Vance was the last one I saw and I can’t say that I have much interest in them. |
