Emma Watson has a chance to make a splash on the big screen for the second time this year with her lead role in an adaptation of the popular futuristic novel The Circle. Apart from the third week of The Fate of the Furious, there isn’t much competing against The Circle. Fellow release How to Be a Latin Lover isn’t the kind of movie that tops box office charts.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): The cast alone would make this worth seeing, but the premise is fascinating. Unfortunately, the trailer isn’t.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Interesting cast in sci-fi thriller looks intriguing.
Tripp Burton (TB): This was one of the most unsettling books I’ve read in a while, and it should make a very tense film.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): The specter of a Facebook style company controlling our lives should make for an exciting movie, but it was not that exciting a trailer. I wish it was more interesting.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): There are some funny bits to the trailer, but not enough to make this look worthwhile.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Comedy with a difference may be worth catching.
Tripp Burton (TB): This looks very unfunny to me.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): This looks like a very lame comedy. I doubt it will be worth two hours of anyone’s time.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): The teen superpower films haven’t looked terribly interesting so far.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Sci-fi family drama looks entertaining.
Tripp Burton (TB): This had some good buzz out of Sundance so I’m curious to check it out.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): I’m not sure what type of film this wants to be, the trailer veered from romantic comedy to inner city gang thriller to super hero film. It might be good or it might be dreadful.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): The only thing that makes this interesting is the bizarre nature of the plot and trailer. Otherwise, it isn’t that involving.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Looks like the least interesting of this week’s new sci-fi films.
Tripp Burton (TB): Good word of mouth from a few festivals last year makes this one to check out, but I’m not in as much of a hurry as this week’s other releases.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): Fans of Mr. Robot will enjoy seeing Rami Malek in a conspiracy theory movie, but the disjointed trailer did little to excite me about this particular film.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): We have enough corrupt politicians here that watching a film about South Korean politicians doesn’t seem that exciting.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Korean political drama looks fairly routine.
Tripp Burton (TB): This looks intriguing, but I’ll wait to watch it when it’s streaming for free.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): The description of the movie about secrets in politics makes it sound more interesting than the trailer, which is not a good sign.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): While it doesn’t look awful, it looks commonplace, which is almost as bad.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Life-affirming Israeli drama looks interesting if minor.
Tripp Burton (TB): The reviews for this are positive and I’m insterested in checking it out.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): I’m not sure about this movie. The trailer was not that interesting, but the early reviews make it sound like it is worth seeing.
