This will be an interesting weekend. Two very targeted pics enter the marketplace. The Man from U.N.C.L.E. will appeal to the type of moviegoer that made Sherlock Holmes a huge success. The main distinction is that it doesn’t have a huge star like Robert Downey Jr. involved. The other is Straight Outta Compton, which will appeal largely to the black community. Both films have interesting prospects and given the right conditions could easily top the box office. It will be a very interesting weekend.

Wesley Lovell (WL): I wanted to be compelled. I love Armie Hammer, but the trailers look relatively ridiculous. I might still see it, but I’m not nearly as interested as I thought I would be. |

Wesley Lovell (WL): I was surprised after seeing the trailer just how compelling this narrative looked. I’m always fascinated in by how history falls into the trend of “the more things change, the more things stay the same. |

Wesley Lovell (WL): Noah Baumbach is one of those directors that I’ve been only minimally impressed with, but Greta Gerwig looks like an absolute hoot. |

Wesley Lovell (WL): It seems like it could be a rather amusing picture. Whether it’s actually good or not is uncertain. |
