Superhero movies may never struggle at the box office again and with anti-hero Deadpool doing so incredibly well earlier this year, the same is expected of its dark DC counterpart Suicide Squad. The film is expected to top $100 million this weekend, which would crush all competition. Nine Lives is also releasing, but most people will ask what it was after the fact.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): This looks like a horrible, unfunny and corny (the bad kind) film.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Unusual comedy could be hit or miss.
Tripp Burton (TB): This looks dismal, but the daughter wants to see it so I may be stuck.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): This might be okay, but truthfully it looks rather lame.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): In spite of my misgivings, this actually looks like a hell of a lot of fun.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Another week, another film from a comic book. No thanks.
Tripp Burton (TB): This looks dismal, but with all the attention it is getting I may have to check it out to stay in the conversation.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): The worst criminals being sent in to save the world. Hasn’t this been done before?

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): Some actors who were once great are slumming in this film that should have been released directly to VHS.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Low wattage gangster film doesn’t look too promising.
Tripp Burton (TB): I’m sick of mafia films, but this looks a little fresh.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): A good man being pulled in to doing bad work for the mob, also a film we have seen before.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): The cast is superb, but the trailer doesnโ€™t make it look very fresh.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Character drama could be saved by good performances but it looks very slow and drawn out.
Tripp Burton (TB): A great cast seems to elevate this pedestrian looking drama.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): This intimate drama might prove interesting, though even the trailer feels long and the early reviews are not terribly good.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): The idea of the concept appeals to me, but the apparent execution of the concept does not.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Asian-American Devil Wears Prada with a gay twist offers something different for a change.
Tripp Burton (TB): A lovely premise for a film, but the word on the street is that the execution fails.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): This indie film looks fairly interesting, and there have been few coming out films dealing with Chinese or Chinese Americans, so it should be something new.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): Another retread of boring horror tropes.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Another week, another low-budget horror movie. I’ll pass.
Tripp Burton (TB): An original looking horror film to check out on demand!
Thomas LaTourette (TL): The trailer does not look at all scary, it definitely looks like one to miss.
