The first hero team Marvel introduced also seems to have the hardest time getting fans to remain loyal to it. Fox hasn’t been as successful with their other Marvel property and this reboot has been earning some very mixed notices. It will still likely be enough for it to top the box office, but it might be a tough competition.

Wesley Lovell (WL): The first two films in the franchise weren’t very good. The trailers don’t suggest this one will be much better. This series seems to have gotten stuck with the worst writers imaginable. |

Wesley Lovell (WL): While it might be nice to see Jason Bateman tackle a new genre, everything I’ve seen for the film make me question whether it’s really any different from every other similarly-styled film out there. |

Wesley Lovell (WL): I’ve never been a huge Meryl Streep fan, but even I think she’s coasting lately. This reminds me of those abortive musical/comedies she once made with regularity. |

Wesley Lovell (WL): I’ll admit that I’m a bit intrigued by the content and the trailer that came with it. While I don’t expect it to live up to the impossibly high standards of Gone Girl, it could be a pleasant diversion. |

Wesley Lovell (WL): I’m not a fan of the animation employed in the primary story, but some of the other animation efforts in the film are drop-dead gorgeous. |
