There’s nothing much on the new movie front this week, with an under-advertised horror flick taking on the post-Thanksgiving weekend slate that is sure to be dominated by holdovers. (NOTE: Tripp had an unexpected delay, so we’ve added his ratings and commentary below)

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): The trailer is awful. The premise is awful. The whole thing looks awful.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Another week, another horror film. This is nothing I’d run out to see.
Tripp Burton (TB): This looks like a dull horror film.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): Wow, another horror film. These seem to come in abundance and I will pass on this one too.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): There isn’t anything impressive in the trailer, but at least the production values look decently put together.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): I get enough information about hacking by watching the news, I don’t need to see a movie about it.
Tripp Burton (TB): Not for meโ€ฆ
Thomas LaTourette (TL): This has an interesting premise, but the trailer makes it look like it gets a lot more confusing as it goes on.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): For a trailer so weak, the premise is relatively strong and could off-set the off-putting trailer.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Coming-of-age story about a bullied girl might be worth your time.
Tripp Burton (TB): This looks interesting, but I’ll wait to stream it for free.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): This coming of age movie looks like it taps into a lot of unpleasant issues and the trailer just did not make it seem that interesting.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): Who doesnโ€™t love watching Natalie Portman act her ass off. That she’s playing one of the most significant First Ladies in history after the death of her husband is even better.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): One of the year’s most highly anticipated films is a must-see for me.
Tripp Burton (TB): This is quickly becoming one of my most anticipated films of the year.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): The story of Jackie Kennedy preparing for JFK’s funeral looks pretty interesting, and Natalie Portman is supposed to turn in her best performance ever.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): When you write about the worst trailers of 2016, this has to be one of them. Meandering through its first half, the thriller doesn’t even look like a thriller until long after you’ve lost interest.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Award-winning Chinese film looks interesting.
Tripp Burton (TB): This looks interesting.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): This could prove an interesting indictment on the new China, but the trailer did not make it as dynamic as I would have hoped.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): With Isabelle Huppert, you almost can’t go wrong, but the trailer suggests the film is fairly straight-laced and commonplace.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): It might be worth a look, but this is not the Isabelle Huppert film everyone is talking about.
Tripp Burton (TB): I’ve heard real good things here, but I’ll wait to watch it at home.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): The early reviews are great, but the trailer does not really explain the movie that well, so I am not sure what to expect.
