The horror genre hasn’t had a major player at the box office in some time and with Star Wars fading fast, The Bye Bye Man could top the box office. Watch out, though, for Hidden Figures, which proved quite a draw coming in second for the weekend and building buzz; and La La Land, which after its 7-award dominance at the Golden Globes, is sure to expand and pick up a lot of interest.

Wesley Lovell (WL): The film sounds like a rip off of Candyman. That doesn’t instill interest in my mind. |

Wesley Lovell (WL): This looks like the most awful, shallow, indescribably bad film of the year and it’s only January. |

Wesley Lovell (WL): It might be ok, but the release window suggests it’s meant entirely to suck cash out of those not looking for anything deep or competent. |
