Michael Bay has a way with bringing people to the theater even if their tastes aren’t the greatest. This should appeal to the same crowd that made American Sniper a hit, but probably to a much smaller degree.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): I’m not about to give time or money to a film that’s based on debunked intelligence and presented as truth. I also think Michael Bay’s a pretty talentless director, so it’s a double disinterest.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Michael Bay takes on Benghazi – no thanks.
Tripp Burton (TB): This looks more interesting than your normal Michael Bay fare, but it is still Michael Bay fare.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): This one looks pretty bad. The beginning of January often gets the dregs, and all these films are looking pretty bad.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): Why is this getting a theatrical release when it should be buried on the home video shelves.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): This is an awful looking animated film.
Tripp Burton (TB): This looks like subpar animated fare that hopefully my kids won’t drag me to see.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): I like animated films, but this one looks both stupid and not terribly well drawn. I think I will pass.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): I didn’t watch the original and I have very limited interest in the sequel.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): This is a sequel to a film I didn’t know existed to begin with, so no, I’m not looking forward to it.
Tripp Burton (TB): I didn’t see the first one, and this isn’t making me rethink that.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): This looks truly terrible and not funny at all.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): I think there might be promise, but I’m not certain it will pan out.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn grown-up and still acting like kids doesn’t look too promising.
Tripp Burton (TB): This is an interesting premise, but I’m not sure how well executed it will be. I’ll find out when it’s streaming.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): A strange modern updating of Tom Sawyer does not look like fun.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): Richard Gere has been working his ass off in recent years and while not everything looks that great (this one for example), it’s nice to see him devoted to his craft.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Intriguing looking thriller with an interesting looking Richard Gere in the title role could be fun.
Tripp Burton (TB): This looks like an interesting film.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): This looks like a fairly contrived film, but at least it has some decent actors in it.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): This looks insultingly dumb.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Chinese murder mystery could be hit or miss.
Tripp Burton (TB): Looks funny, but it’s not at the top of my list.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): This looks like it is trying to be a funny kung fu movie, but it also looks like every joke will fall flat.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): Part of me is curious, the other is disinterested.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Somewhat interesting looking comedy might be a pleasant time-killer but doesn’t look to be much more than that.
Tripp Burton (TB): Another great premise, but I’m nervous about the execution.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): A send up of the Apollo program faking the moon landings, but unfortunately it does not look very funny.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): I can’t figure out what the worth in this film is with the film’s trailer.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Aid workers in an armed conflict zone could interest those looking for something different.
Tripp Burton (TB): Yet another great premise, but why are all these films coming out in January?
Thomas LaTourette (TL): I’m not sure what this film about aid workers during the Bosnian conflict is trying to be, but it might be successful because of its cast.
