Looking at the Weekend: Jan. 25-27, 2019

There aren’t a lot of good options this weekend, which suggests Glass may pick up a second week atop the chart. The Kid Who Would Be King is the only new release this week that could have a superb weekend or a tepid one and still come in second.

	Wesley Lovell (WL): We’ve seen similar stories before and this one looks somewhat juvenile. Peter J. Patrick (PP): The latest version of The Sword in the Stone should appeal to young kids. Thomas LaTourette (TL): This modern day retelling of the Arthur legend looks fairly uninspired, though perhaps kids will like it. I imagine most adults will be bored, though early reviews are favorable.

	Wesley Lovell (WL): Apart from Matthew McConaughey, the cast is fantastic, but the premise is a bit too mysterious to be interesting. Peter J. Patrick (PP): Good cast looks underutilized in what appears to be a routine thriller. Thomas LaTourette (TL): The trailer tries to be moody, but I find it more off-putting than enjoyable. It just does not look like that interesting a thriller.

	Wesley Lovell (WL): By the time this posts, we’ll know if this film is an Oscar nominee or not. Until then, it looks like it might not be bad. Peter J. Patrick (PP): Germany’s contender for Best Foreign Language Film from the director of The Lives of Others looks good. Thomas LaTourette (TL): This German import about the life of an artist through the Nazi regime and beyond could be very interesting if it does not bog down from its three-hour length.
