There are only two new releases this weekend and one of them’s a horror film, which should be enough to make it the top of the two. The weekend will surely be dominated by holdovers otherwise.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): Trying to distinguish yourself from the rest while looking like the rest isn’t the best business model.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): More paranormal nonsense to avoid.
Tripp Burton (TB): Looks like an uninteresting, early-year horror film that will be forgotten by next weekend.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): Horror films are just not my cup of tea, though this looks like it could be better than average. I am still not planning on seeing it.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): The Razzies have started recognizing poorly produced Christian films, so this one could be a player. I don’t even remotely want to see it.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Mix of religion and wrestling seems poised not to please fans of either vocation.
Tripp Burton (TB): Professional wrestling does little to interest me, and this movie looks like it won’t change that.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): A pastor who is also a professional wrestler and vigilante. It sounds awful and doesn’t look much better.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): Even with this cast, it still looks execrable.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): University set ensemble drama with interesting cast could be worth your time.
Tripp Burton (TB): A really interesting cast looks to save this, but it can wait until its on cable or streaming for me to check it out.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): This looks like it is trying to be a deep, serious film, but it comes off as contrived and mawkish instead.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): What’s it actually about? I’m not really sure, so I’m not really sure if I’m interested.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Amateurish looking drama.
Tripp Burton (TB): I love Corneliu Porumboiu’s earlier films, so I can’t wait to check this one out.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): There does seem to be some deadpan humor in this film about a hunt for buried treasure, so it could be worth watching.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): Part of me wants to see it. Part of me wants to head screaming into the hills instead.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Indian actioner built around a chess game seems like an odd mix of genres.
Tripp Burton (TB): I’m not sure what to make of this, but I don’t think much.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): This could be a better than usual action/unlikely friends movie. There are a couple of places in the trailer where subtitles would have helped, but it looks sort of interesting.
