There’s no question that The Dark Knight Rises will be pushing for a record-breaking opening weekend. The second film in the franchise did that, opening with $158 million. Since then, two films have surpassed it with the final Harry Potter film triumphing in 2011 with $169 million and then just this year The Avengers took over with an astounding $207 million. That lead may well be impassable. Avengers had the added benefit of 3D ticket prices to inflate its numbers. The final Christopher Nolan film does not, though it does have the help of IMAX ticket prices. Can The Dark Knight Rises take the top spot again. I doubt it, but anything short of The Dark Knight‘s $158 would be considered a disappointment.

ThoughtsI already have my tickets. After the excellent first two chapters, it would be a crime not to finish it out. |
ThoughtsAn event film and a major Oscar contender, but for what? Time will tell. |

ThoughtsHaving not seen an Auteuil film to date (bad me), it’s hard for me to muster up much excitement for something that looks so mundane. |
ThoughtsAnother classic that didn’t need re-making, albeit a French one. |
