Looking at the Weekend: Jul. 6-8, 2012

The Amazing Spider-Man opens mid-week in true comic book fashion with a rebooted conceit. Since it is positioning itself for the July 4 holiday, that’s 3 extra days before the full weekend, so it might not be able to stick to number one if people don’t like it. However, the action-packed trailers suggest it will do just fine and still eke out a number one finish.

The Amazing Spider-Man: We admit that the reboot is a bit soon, but it still looks entertaining.
Katy Perry: Part of Me: If you’re a fan of the artist, it may be worth your trip. Everyone else can avoid it.
Savages: If you’re a fan of Oliver Stone’s output, this might be your ticket.
China Heavyweight: See it as a potential Oscar documentary contender; otherwise, you probably won’t be interested.

Thoughts I’ll admit that while I despise the intent of this reboot, it looks fun and the Andrew Garfield/Emma Stone pairing should be intriguing.
