The Good Dinosaur was the first Pixar film that never reached #1 at the box office, so it’s a foregone conclusion that Finding Nemo will make it there. However, that’s not the reason it will top the charts. The reason is that Finding Nemo held the record for highest grossing Pixar film of all time until Toy Story passed it in 2010 and has also since been passed by Inside Out, but if you adjust for inflation, the film has never been topped and remains atop the chart. The film’s intense popularity should help overcome a 13-year absence to give it the top spot at the box office and enable it to top Captain America as the year’s highest grossing film.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): Two actors I couldn’t care less about seeing together in a comedy I couldn’t care less about seeing.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Intelligence has nothing to do with it.
Tripp Burton (TB): This is filled with people I don’t find particularly funny, but if you do this could be a good vehicle for them.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): This is a buddy pic/fish out of water film that looks like it has no redeeming qualities.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): Pixar has seldom disappointed. With a sequel to one of their most popular films should give us a chance of seeing how well they can handle sequels after two recent misfires.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Highly anticipated sequel to Finding Nemo should be a huge crowd-pleaser.
Tripp Burton (TB): Finding Nemo is not my favorite Pixar film, but this looks like a solid follow-up and I’ll be happy to revisit these characters.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): I will admit to being dubious about this, but the trailer looks fun and the early critics reviews are stellar. It sounds like the underwater animated imagery is glorious.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): It’s just creepy enough to be interesting. Whether it’s any good depends on a lot.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Silly looking two-year-old horror movie should have gone straight to DVD.
Tripp Burton (TB): This looks ridiculously bad.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): This looks hokey and not terribly scary. I will pass.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): I can’t make out what this film’s purpose is.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): A Norwegian historical drama that offers something different might be worth catching.
Tripp Burton (TB): This looks ridiculous, and is far from my sort of thing.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): It feels like a low rent Game of Thrones with lots of killing by knife, sword, and crossbow in the frozen north of Norway. I imagine it will be subtitled, but the trailer only had grunts and voice over narration.
