Three films each targeting different demographics are trying to take the weekend at the box office. In the end, the blockbuster precursor to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows should guarantee its high returns over the romantic adaptation of Me Before You or the music mockumentary Popstar.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): Looks like a cheap, commonplace romantic drama.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Looks like a British cousin of a Nicholas Sparks film, albeit with such a distinguished cast I can’t wait to see what they do with it.
Tripp Burton (TB): This looks like a blandly made romance, but if that’s your thing, by all means check it out.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): Saccharine romance with the rich paralyzed man falling for his sweet but uneducated caregiver. It’s been done before, probably better, though the leads do look like they have good chemistry.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): It looks partly interesting, partly atrocious.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Looks like an unfunny extended Saturday Night Live skit to me.
Tripp Burton (TB): I like Lonely Island quite a bit, but I’m not sure if we need an entire full-length feature from them.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): This looks even worse than the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. Who knew that was possible.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): I had no desire to see the first film and there’s an even lesser desire for the sequel.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Why couldn’t they have stayed in the shadows?
Tripp Burton (TB): I’ve missed this reboot so far, and the trailer doesn’t make me want to rethink that.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): This looks truly dreadful, juvenile and idiotic. What was Laura Linney thinking?

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): It could be much better than it looks, but I’m not so sure.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Looks like an interesting take on the exploration of Mars, but will audiences come?
Tripp Burton (TB): This looks interesting, but I’m also very skeptical about it.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): This looks slightly like The Martian, only with an astronaut trying to get to Mars rather than off it, and definitely without the humor. The trailer does not excite.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): More seemingly formulaic martial arts dramas. Still not interested.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Kung Fu movie looks good for its type, but I won’t rush to see it.
Tripp Burton (TB): I’m not a big fan of martial arts movies, but this one looks very well-made.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): Another martial arts movie, this one at least with period costumes, with lots of action sequences, and little that makes sense. I will pass.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): The trailer was interesting, but I’m not sure if it will ultimately be to my liking.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): No thanks. Just watching the trailer gave me the fits.
Tripp Burton (TB): One of the big hits of Sundance this year, and it looks like it may live up to the hype.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): The trailer is perplexing, but early reviews are good, so this might be the one movie worth seeing this week.
