With both prior entries in this franchise earning more than $50 million opening weekend, this film should be able to make roughly that and take the weekend crown from Zootopia. Miracles from Heaven may do well, but it won’t be able to get beyond third place for the weekend.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): The franchise is enjoyable enough to keep going.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): The first one was OK, but the second one left me cold. I have no desire to see the third.
Tripp Burton (TB): I haven’t seen the previous installments, so I’m not rushing to this one.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): Unfortunately the penultimate of the Divergent series movies also looks like the weakest of them. It’s a pity to waste such a good cast.

Peter J. Patrick (PP): Glorified inspirational TV movie doesn’t look too appealing.
Tripp Burton (TB): This is far from my cup of tea.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): A couple of good actors getting paychecks does not make this Christian film look enticing to any but the most faithful.

Peter J. Patrick (PP): Dumb looking raunchy comedy isn’t my cup of tea.
Tripp Burton (TB): I really like Melissa Rauch, so I’m curious to see what she does with a vehicle like this.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): I like Melissa Rauch on the Big Bang Theory, but this looks like a painful comedy that is well beneath her talents.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): The premise has a lot of socio-political promise, but the trailer doesn’t look too exciting.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Timely thriller about drone strikes should be worth a matinee viewing.
Tripp Burton (TB): This cast is solid, but the film they are filling doesn’t look like anything special.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): This looks like a tense and very timely thriller about the use of drones to take out targets. It looks very good.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): Sally Field doesn’t look like she’s had this much fun in years. It could be great fun.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Silly looking comedy about an elderly kook and the young man she attracts.
Tripp Burton (TB): The trailer for this looks really cloying.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): It looks like Sally Field’s first chance to shine in a number of years, though the film may be a little too cutesy to totally enjoy. It should be fun to watch her.

Peter J. Patrick (PP): Sci-fi drama from the always interesting Jeff Nichols should be worth a look.

Peter J. Patrick (PP): Teen crime drama appears to be worth a look.
