It will be an easy win for Logan at the box office. The X-Men franchise has done well with opening weekends and the other new releases don’t look like the kinds of movies that become big enough hits to take it down.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): I am an X-Men fan, so this is a no-brainer for me. The rave reviews have only doubled my interest in the film.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): The X-Men franchise is alive and well and hiding out on the Mexican border. Fans should eat it up.
Tripp Burton (TB): This looks like an interesting, novel take on the superhero genre, although I’m not sure I need more dark and brooding superhero movies.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): The trailer doesn’t excite, but the reviews and word of mouth are very good.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): It looks like a faux-spirational movie and that’s just not my thing.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): For those who want to see Octavia Spencer play God. All others can stay home.
Tripp Burton (TB): Nothing about this movie appeals to me.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): Decent cast, but it looks insipid.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): This is a talented cast, but releasing at the specialty box office concerns me.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Improbable romantic comedy strictly for those who enjoy such things.
Tripp Burton (TB): This looks like a clever little film with a great creative team.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): Good cast, fun premise, but the trailer is definitely lacking the necessary humor for this movie to work.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): An indie drama that looks like it plays into the worst aspects of the genre.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Awkward looking no-name cast comedy.
Tripp Burton (TB): I’ve heard good buzz around this, although the trailer didn’t do much for me.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): Old acquaintances meet up and hijinks reportedly ensue, but it looks more painful than funny.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): Every week, there seems to be another Asian action film and this is yet another that doesn’t look that interesting.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Gory crime drama for those who are interested. I’m not.
Tripp Burton (TB): This is not my thing at all.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): This looks like an exceptionally violent and not terribly interesting film.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): Shirley MacLaine alone is a good reason to see this.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Shirley MacLaine puts “the bitch” in obituary. Could be good.
Tripp Burton (TB): A great cast, but I’m not sure this looks like it works.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): An elderly woman wants to change her life so that she can have a decent obituary. It could be fun, especially with Shirley Maclaine as the star, but an embittered person suddenly touching the hearts of those around her just does not seem very believable.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): This High School drama doesn’t look that interesting.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): The coming-of-age of a teenage werewolf. Beware!
Tripp Burton (TB): This looks not too intriguing to me.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): Yet another coming of age story where a young athlete has to rise above his father to succeed, but it looks pretty lame.
