Julia Roberts just doesn’t command big box office. And the film hasn’t been getting nearly the advertising push it needs to top the sequel to a certified hit. Wrath of the Titans should be the top newcomer, but The Hunger Games should easily control its second week.

Consensus

Below is a list of what we have come to a general consensus on. The number in parens represents the percentage of our contributors who agree with the statement.

Mirror Mirror: It may appeal best to genre fans, fans of Tarsem Singh and those wanting to see Julia Roberts having a blast.
Wrath of the Titans: An unnecessary sequel that doesn’t look to improve much on the original.
Bully: A publicity powerhouse, this could be one of the year’s top documentaries and an Oscar contender to boot.

I was sold with Armie Hammer, but the film looks like it could be mostly fun and stylish to boot.

Thoughts

The first of the year’s two Snow White movies in which the Evil Queen is the main character could work, but I’m not terribly excited about it.

Thoughts

These family-friendly fantasy films may be audience favorites, but they aren’t awards favorites.

The first one wasn’t that great, so I will probably wait until DVD if I catch it at all.

Thoughts

I’ll wait for Gods Behaving Badly to get my dose of Zeus later in the year.

Thoughts

If the first one couldn’t pick up any tech nods, this one won’t either.

While it would be interesting to watch, I’m sure, I don’t have the time to catch documentaries at the theater and seldom even at home.

Thoughts

Harvey Weisntein’s public war with the MPAA over this important film’s rating provided the astute producer with more free publicity than he would have gotten had he trimmed the few offending words rumor has it he will anyway. Hope it worked.

Thoughts

All this squabble over the rating might be good for business, but it won’t get the film any love from the Academy.
