London Has Fallen is following a highly successful original, but Disney should handily take the weekend’s top spot. How far above remains to be seen, but unnecessary sequels don’t always sell well with audiences even if they liked the predecessor.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): I had no desire to see the original, so I’m not in a rush to see its sequel.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): High adrenaline actioner could be a hit at the box office but a miss with critics.
Tripp Burton (TB): I never saw the first one and won’t be checking this one out either.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): It looks like a fairly tepid and overwrought action thriller, though a good cast could salvage it.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): Tina Fey in a comedy about journalists in the Middle East may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but the trailers look generally funny.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): We all know what the letters WTF stand for and it ain’t “whiskey tango foxtrot.”
Tripp Burton (TB): I’m not a Tina Fey fan, but this looks better than most of her trailers.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): Unfortunately it looks like the comedic talents of Tina Fey and Margot Robbie may be wasted in this uninspired looking film.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): The marketing for this film has been poor, but it’s a Disney animated film, so I’ll still check it out.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): I’m thinking this will be a mid-level hit and an also-ran at year-end awards.
Tripp Burton (TB): This trailer makes me laugh hard, and the kids and I are excited to check it out!
Thomas LaTourette (TL): This looks like it could be a fun animated entry by Disney.

Wesley Lovell (WL): The trailer doesn’t look so hot, but I’ve heard good things about the film.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Thai romantic drama looks interesting.
Tripp Burton (TB): Joe’s films are always worth seeing, and this looks intriguing to be sure.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): Early reviews are good, but an enigmatic trailer does little to make me want to see the film.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): I haven’t felt the desire to see a Terrence Malick film in some time.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Long-delayed Terrence Malick looks like another snooze fest from the once brilliant director.
Tripp Burton (TB): A new Terrence Malick film is always reason to go running to the theater.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): Terrence Malick can be a mixed bag as a director and this film is looking awfully self indulgent.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): The trailer looks boring and the premise sounds better in premise than it probably is in execution.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Four-year-old Thai vampire movie could be a sleeper.
Tripp Burton (TB): Joe’s films are always worth seeing, and this looks intriguing to be sure, although I wonder what took this one so long to get here.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): This sounds like a bit of a misfire and may feel long even at 59 minutes.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): Another occult horror film that doesn’t look like it’s worth much.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Looks like a low wattage horror movie.
Tripp Burton (TB): Looks like an ordinary horror film I can stream for free in six months.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): This looks like a fairly standard horror film with nothing in the trailer to truly recommend it.

Thomas LaTourette (TL): Norway’s first disaster film looks worth seeing.
