It will be interesting to see how two cult favorites can do with sequels of completely different styles. I suspect the more established franchise will top the more recent one. However, it will be most interesting if either can stave off the third week of Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Individual Commentaries

Wesley Lovell: Both of this week’s new releases look good, so I’m going to pick both.
Peter J. Patrick: Not having ever watched a Mad Max film or seen the original Pitch Perfect, I have no desire to see either of this week’s major releases.
Tripp Burton: It’s a sequel and a reboot, both to films that I never had much interest in seeing more of, but they both have a lot of fans so check them out. The films both seem to be picking up good buzz.
Thomas LaTourrette: I enjoyed both Pitch Perfect and some of the original Mad Max movies, so these will be fine to see though I am looking forward to some more original fair eventually.
