The latest reboot of the Japanese monster movie will likely stomp all over the competition last week.

Individual Commentaries

Wesley Lovell: The teaser for Godzilla got me excited about the movie, though the follow-up trailers have been less entertaining.
Peter J. Patrick: Who would have thought the most exciting new film of the week would turn out to be another remake of the 1954 Japanese horror film, Godzilla, disastrously remade by Hollywood in 1998. From all accounts the new version seems to be superior in every respect.
Tripp Burton: Some films with surprisingly good reviews are creeping in and may set a good precedent for the summer ahead of us.
Thomas LaTourrette: Both Godzilla and The Immigrant have good word of mouth, but I am not the most excited by this weekend’s offering. Hopefully we will get some really exciting movies soon.
