Although the previous film, Prometheus was ravaged by critics and fans, the new Alien: Covenant should still prove to be a potent box office foe. Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2 will likely go down to defeat. The rest of the week’s new films don’t stand a chance.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): This franchise has become one of my favorites, Prometheus notwithstanding. Early reviews haven’t been great, so I will temper my expectations.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): I pretty much gave up on this franchise after Aliens, but Ridley Scott’s return and Michael Fassbender’s dual role have me fascinated.
Tripp Burton (TB): This is always an interesting franchise, and I’m curious to see what this will look like.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): I like the original, but found Prometheus confusing. I do not know if this will add more to the series or not.

Wesley Lovell (WL): I have never had an interest in any of these films. That doesn’t change now.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Previous entries in this franchise have passed me by, so I have no idea what to expect.
Tripp Burton (TB): This is a franchise i have little interest in.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): I did not see the first one, and this just looks painful.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): While I suspect this film will be incredibly formulaic, the trailers have won me over.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Teen romance looks sweet, but is that enough?
Tripp Burton (TB): Stella Meghie is an interesting up-and-coming voice, and I’m curious to see what she does with this material.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): Another sick girl who decides she wants to try living before she dies. It’s been done before, and probably better.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): The premise sound intriguing, but I’m not certain it will be.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): This looks awfully wan to me.
Tripp Burton (TB): This looks very interesting.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): This looks like an interesting film about a man who decides to disappear and watch the results. I’m intrigued.
