It’s rather interesting that July has turned out quite different than anyone would have predicted just a few months ago. While I doubt Aloha can beat San Andreas, I wouldn’t be surprised. It could be a close race and they’ll likely be the weekend’s top two films.

Individual Commentaries

Wesley Lovell: Despite the cast, Aloha doesn’t look that great, though San Andreas doesn’t look so hot either. That leaves the specialty box office which isn’t much more interesting.
Peter J. Patrick: San Andreas looks like it might be fun, but everything else this week including the Cameron Crowe movie looks really bad.
Tripp Burton: The wide releases couldn’t be more different this week, so choose the one that appeals to your sense of taste the best!
Thomas LaTourrette: An odd set of movies. Aloha and San Andreas might be fine for their genre audiences, but Heaven Knows What might be the most interesting of the bunch.
