The final film of The Hunger Games franchise will wipe the floor with the competition and will remain the dominant player at the box office until Star Wars: The Force Awakens releases in December. It will be a hefty Thanksgiving holiday for the film, which is hoping to surpass its second chapter as the most successful. The Night Before and Secret in Their Eyes will easily pale in comparison, but should do decent business in next week’s holiday frame.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): It’s a great trilogy of books and the films have been equally memorable. I’m there without question.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): I thought this series had already ended, that’s how enthused I am about seeing another episode.
Tripp Burton (TB): This looks like a good conclusion to the series, and maybe an improvement over the book’s lackluster ending.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): This has to be better than the last installment, but I have a feeling it will not live up to the promise of the first two films.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): I like Joseph Gordon-Levitt just enough to make this a film I’m at least a little interested in.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Writer/director and stars of 50/50 re-unite in a 50/50 chance of making something half as good.
Tripp Burton (TB): This is not my type of thing, but it looks like it is perfect for those who love this comedic troop.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): This looks like a stupid, unfunny film. What a waste of the cast.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): I can’t say that I’m super excited to see the film, but it looks better than a lot of other things that have released recently.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Oscar winning Argentinian film undergoes a sex change to give Julia Roberts the lead – will it pay off?
Tripp Burton (TB): I’m not sure why they felt the need to remake this, but it looks very well-made for what it is.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): This looks like another case of a good cast wasted in a mediocre thriller. The trailer certainly does not help.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): It’s another teen-targeted horror film about social media that has been ill-served by a weak trailer.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): A film about 12-year-olds for 12-year-olds – no thanks.
Tripp Burton (TB): This looks like low-grade horror.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): A stylized horror film about rich young girls, I will pass.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): Far From Heaven was one of my favorite films from the last decade and with the talent involved, I’m unequivocally excited.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Major Oscar contender in numerous categories should be a major art-house hit.
Tripp Burton (TB): This is supposed to be one of the big players this awards season, and supposedly it is deserving of that title.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): Todd Haynes has never been my favorite director, but it sounds like he has a hit with this one, buoyed by Oscar-worthy performances from Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): I’m interested if only in the performance of Tom Hardy.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Second film about the Krays and the first in which one actor plays both brothers will be a tricky sell.
Tripp Burton (TB): I like the pedigree here a lot, although I don’t need another true crime gangster movie.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): I like Tom Hardy as an actor, so this should be wonderful, but it looks just too violent and not deep enough to hold my interest.

Wesley Lovell (WL): I empathize with the subject matter, but the film doesn’t look that interesting.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Topical refugee drama should do well with critics.
Tripp Burton (TB): This looks intriguing, although it is flying low under the radar.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): A film about the migrant issues in Europe, should be topical, interesting and harrowing.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): Little in this trailer appeals to me enough to sit down in the theater for it.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Looks like a minor French import.
Tripp Burton (TB): This looks like something new and unique, although It’s not near the top of my list.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): A female coming of age story that looks beautiful and may be worth seeing.
