It’s rather strange for a film like Inferno to find itself without competition. That makes it the only choice to be number one of all new releases. So, will it surpass the second weekends of Boo! A Madea Halloween and Jack Reacher: Never Go Back. It’s very likely. The first film opened to $77 million and the second to $46 million. I suspect this outing will be lower than both, but Madea ended up on top last weekend with $28 million, even a modest slide won’t be enough to match what Inferno could take at minimum.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): The prior film version of Dan Brown’s novel wasn’t particularly great and this film’s trailer just isn’t that exciting.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): I didn’t like the first two in the series, not likely to like the third.
Tripp Burton (TB): I’ve lost track of this series of movies, but for fans this looks like a solid entry.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): The first two films of the series were mildly diverting, but this looks like it might be the weakest link of the group.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): An almost forgettable trailer makes this a low priority.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Pedestrian looking love story not apt to do much business.
Tripp Burton (TB): This look trite and predictable.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): This looks like a generic love story with little in the trailer to inspire me to see it.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): A horror film that might have promise, but I’m doubtful.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Another week, another haunted house thriller. No thanks.
Tripp Burton (TB): This look like a run-of-the-mill horror film.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): Horror films are not my cup of tea to start with, and this one definitely doesn’t look like it adds anything new to the genre.
