While it might be nice to think that Bradley Cooper can carry a film to box office success, the Foody Era may be coming to an end. Meanwhile, Sandra Bullock, a much more proven box office magnet, is back at it with a film that I think will eke out a victory over Mr. Cooper’s effort.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): Political dramas are a mixed bag and while there have been many great ones, this one doesn’t look like it will be one of them.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Frantic looking comedy/drama is likely to get lost in the shuffle of awards season.
Tripp Burton (TB): This looks painfully unfunny, and the buzz echoes that too
Thomas LaTourette (TL): I had higher hopes for this picture, but it sounds like Sandra Bullock was let down by her director and scriptwriter.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): Getting very tired of zombie-themed films.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Zombie comedy/horror film doesn’t look too promising.
Tripp Burton (TB): This looks painful
Thomas LaTourette (TL): It looks like a dumbed down version of Zombieland, a movie I quite enjoyed. This one does not look so promising.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): This looks like a cheap, uninspired sports drama.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Another inspirational high school sports drama that will likely have a built-in audience.
Tripp Burton (TB): High school football movies aren’t my thing, but this looks decently made enough.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): Another uplifting high school sports film. I will pass on this one too.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): I didn’t care much for Underworld. While would I care about a teen-centric, poorly-helmed simulacrum of the fight between humans, zombies, vampires and aliens?
Peter J. Patrick (PP): More zombies, more vampires in another comedy/horror film. I’ll pass.
Tripp Burton (TB): Mindless Halloween nonsense is abound this weekend!
Thomas LaTourette (TL): A bad film with zombies, aliens and vampires. I think I will pass.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): I don’t mind historical epics, but this one just doesn’t look like a good one.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Well-received Filipino movie could be the Philippines’ first international success.
Tripp Burton (TB): Looks promising enough, but I’m in no rush to check this out.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): Not knowing much about the history of the Philippines nor their movie making, this could be an interesting film about one of their most famous generals.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): The trailer isn’t very good at conveying importance, which makes the film look cold.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Looks like a French 50 Shades of Gray, or maybe 50 Shades of Red.
Tripp Burton (TB): An interesting enough experiment that looks tedious otherwise.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): A series of four stories about love and sex in Taiwan, but it looks to be sexy and pretentious.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): I’ve seen direct-to-video efforts that look more competent and engaging than this.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Family comedy/drama looks derivative but might be interesting.
Tripp Burton (TB): Looks charming enough to stream when it’s available.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): An uplifting family drama where the prodigal son returns home to help heal his family. It does not look like a winner, and I am not certain Adrian Grenier has the acting ability to pull off the serious role.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): It might be good, but it doesn’t look very interesting to me.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Drama about Italian beekeepers offers something different in a week otherwise filled with the same old same old.
Tripp Burton (TB): This seems overly cute, which isn’t my thing.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): This sounds like a nice coming of age film, about a beekeeping family in Italy. Could be a charmer.
