Competing for the crown this weekend will be the second weekend of The Martian and the first weekend of family-friendly Pan. While I’d like to give Matt Damon and Ridley Scott the upper hand, the vibrancy of Pan seems like a safer bet.

Wesley Lovell (WL): A deconstruction of the Peter Pan mythos that turns the tale in different directions? The trailers doesn’t make it look that great, but I’m sure it will be a hit. |

Wesley Lovell (WL): It might be fun just to see Whoopi Goldberg acting again, but that’s about the only thing that could get me to watch this movie. |

Wesley Lovell (WL): As a horror enthusiast, I love when films astutely poke fun at the genre. Hopefully, this is more like Tucker & Dave vs. Evil and not The Cabin the Woods. |

Wesley Lovell (WL): The trailer doesn’t make it look like much more than a loose fancy for a quiet Sunday afternoon at home on television. |
