Oscar Week in Review: February 19-25, 2012

Oscar News

  • The 84th Annual Academy Awards will be presented Sunday night at 8:30 Eastern/7:30 Central on ABC. Wesley, Peter and Tripp’s final predictions can be found here.
  • Due to its recent bankruptcy, Kodak has pulled its sponsorship of the Kodak Theater. This year’s awards will be presented at the now-named Hollywood & Highlands Center.
  • Midnight in Paris and The Descendants were the top winners at the Writers Guild Awards last weekend. Better This World won the Documentary prize.
  • The Descendants also won the USC Scripter award, given to the best adaptation of the year.
  • The ACE award for best editing went to The Descendants for drama and The Artist for comedy.
  • W.E. won the Period Costume prize from the Costume Designers Guild, who also gave prizes to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.
  • The Artist was the big winner at the Cesar Awards, the French Academy Awards.
