Dominating the 16th Visual Effects Society awards, War for the Planet of the Apes continued its franchise sweep of the VES awards, nabbing the third trophy for Best Visual Effects. This may have some effect on the Oscars, but we won’t kow for sure unti lthe final envelope is opened, considering Oscar ignored the prior to films in the series in favor of other pictures. Coco won all of the animated categories while Blade Runner 2049 picked up a pair of prizes.
