Once again, the Satellite Awards announce their nominations earlier than they posted on their own website. This kind of disorganization is plainly frustrating. So too is their inability to alphabetize anything. Now to the nominees. Dunkirk dominated with The Shape of Water not far behind. They matched all categories with the exception of which category their one acting nominee placed in and Shape of Water didn’t get a Costume Design nod (a rather strange thing that Dunkirk did). Lady Bird and Three Billboards did better here than they have so far this season and Darkest Hour managed five nominations, but not a placement in Best Picture, which features oddly enough God’s Own Country, which no one rightly expected. Other than that, most of the nominees have been on the tongues of prognosticators for a little while now.
