Spreading out their prizes over numerous films, The Shape of Water barely topped the list of most honored of the year with its Best Picture win. Otherwise, other than the supporting categories, these were the winners that have come across most of the year. What’s noteworthy is that Get Out may have been hobbled in Best Picture thanks to its inclusion and win for the genre category handed out off-screen. That gives the optics that the film isn’t a major player even though it is. We’ll see how the rest of the season goes.
