Precursor: 27th PGA Documentary Nominations (2015)

What irritates me about this is that it’s a week earlier than my educated guess, largely because when I went to PGA’s website, I couldn’t find the information. Yet, here they are, a week earlier than expected. Regardless, the nominations are an interesting lot with Amy and The Look of Silence being the only ones I might have expected on this list.

The Hunting Ground isn’t that shocking either. The other two weren’t really on my radar of potential nominees. Just keep in mind that the PGA’s documentary slate seldom matches the Academy’s in any meaningful way with fewer than half most years making the eventual Oscar cut. I think this gives Amy and The Look of Silence some good press and perhaps enough boost to get there while The Hunting Ground gains some traction.
