Proof there’s a lot of below-the-line support for Guardians of the Galaxy, which might help it’s Oscar Best Picture chances, the Makeup artists have tied it with Into the Woods for most nominations at this year’s makeup and hairstyling awards. The organization had given out awards early in the 2000’s, but had taken a break until recently. Their predictive capability is difficult to assess. However, of the seven films shortlisted by the Academy’s makeup artists, Foxcatcher, The Grand Budapest Hotel, Guardians of the Galaxy, Maleficent and The Theory of Everything make an appearance below. Into the Woods, which shared most nominations with Galaxy wasn’t on the Academy shortlist. Missing from the below list that made the Academy’s are The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and Noah, neither of which seemed like films the Academy would nominate anyway.
