2012 Spring Preview: Introduction

It’s hard to believe that 2011 has almost left us. And while there were a lot of fine quality films, 2012 promises a lot of great things…of course, Spring will probably not deliver them. Most studios dump their least Oscar-friendly films in the beginning of the year when box office numbers are depressed and critics aren’t paying nearly as much attention, focusing primarily on the Oscars. This Spring won’t be much different. Only a handful of must-see films are coming out (at least for me) and some of those are re-releases in 3D. Here’s the preview for 2012. We’ll have a full preview of January coming within the next week.

For me, the only major releases in the first four months of 2012 that aren’t also 2011 Oscar contenders are Hunger Games, Mirror Mirror, Beauty and the Beast in 3D, Titanic in 3D, The Woman in Black and The Raven. There are a few others that look interesting at present, but I’m not going out on a limb and saying I’m that interested without seeing some trailers first.
