  1. I have not seen the film; but, I saw a production of the play while I was living in Texas. Does the film keep the “Ladies and gentlemen, please take your seats,” segment?

  2. I had never seen an advertisement for this movie when it supposedly went to cinemas, but I caught it on cable one day randomly. It is one of the funniest movies ever made and is shamefully unfamiliar to a lot of non-theater folk.

The film explores the dangerous affairs and incidents that happen backstage at a small theater where these antics threaten to poison and destroy the professional play they are putting on. Stellar performances all around in this one and I’m ready to check it out again since it’s been so long since I last saw it.

What’s most interesting is that one of my co-workers and her husband are taking on the Carol Burnett/Michael Caine roles on stage next month, so I’ll see how it works on the stage too. Interesting.
