Trailer

Rating: A-
Commentary: I might have expected this kind of design from the likes of Baz Luhrmann. It’s richly detailed and compelling. It tells the film’s love triangle with simple visual trickery and the emerging of real life from the stage is a delicious touch.
Rating: B
Commentary: The trailer’s construction is generic and uninteresting, but the content is far from it. The blended, eye-bending scene changes mix with the beautiful love story to create an environment that any romantic would gladly fall into.

Oscar Chances: Director Joe Wright has only made five feature films, two of them have been Oscar nominees, one for Best Picture. This is his third period feature and considering his first two in the milieu were the Oscar nominees, the chances are great for this one, especially for Art Direction and Costume Design. That it’s reminiscent of Doctor Zhivago will be lost on no one. Keira Knigthley was first nominated under Wright’s direction and although she didn’t make the cut for Atonement, many thought she would. If her competition fall by the wayside, should could easily pick up steam as a major contender.
