What to See: Sep. 28-30, 2012

On Sundays, we list the weekend's upcoming films along with previews of trailers and posters. On Wednesdays, we preview all of the upcoming new wide and limited releases hitting the theaters the coming weekend. On Fridays, we'll now tell you what you should see. We pose two questions each week to our contributors and their responses are posted below.

Wesley Lovell

1. Which of the three new wide releases would you choose to recommend above the others?
It's an easy choice for me: Looper; nothing else looks interesting.
2. Are there any limited release features this week that you would recommend (and why)?
It's between Pitch Perfect and The Other Dream Team. If I were more of a documentary fan, I'd go for the latter, but the former is my selection.

1. Which of the three new wide releases would you choose to recommend above the others?
Depends on your mood. Want a few belly laughs - see Hotel Transylvania. Want something more intense - see Looper.
2. Are there any limited release features this week that you would recommend (and why)?
I'd opt for The Other Dream Team about the Barcelona Olympic Champion Lithuanian basketball team, which looks like an inspiring documentary.

Tripp Burton

1. Which of the three new wide releases would you choose to recommend above the others?
Looper has the best buzz, and the best pedigree, so I would check that one out first.
2. Are there any limited release features this week that you would recommend (and why)?
Pitch Perfect should be a fun trip to the movies.

  1. Having come back from Looper, I can definitely say I don’t think a Make-Up nomination would be out of the running, even with a quick montage aging process between Willis and Gordon-Levitt as well as the make-up done to make both actors appear similar. That and you have previous nominees Kazuhiro Tsuji heading the make-up department.
