The American Society of Cinematographers is not the best predictor of the guilds because they have very specific predilections. There isn’t an exact overlap with the Oscars, but if one of the films in that overlap wins, an Oscar win could be foreshadowed.

With the Oscar nominees spread over multiple categories, it’s hard to say what might win, but these are the awards to try and isolate a victor from their selections.

Often a better predictor than the WGA (because of the guild’s arcane rules), this is the place to look at for a carry-over to the Oscars. Though, the overlap is minimal this year, so if they go off the beaten path, it might be interesting.

The Writers Guild of America is missing several Oscar nominees due to eligibility issues. What wins here might have some impact on the Oscars, but with unknown quantities like The Banshees of Inisherin missing, we won’t know for sure.

The Spirit Awards recognize indie films only, so major features are never nominated. That said, other than a few instances, the Spirit winners also have a solid correlation to the Oscars…at least in the Best Feature category. The others, not so much.
