A rather lackluster list of winners and proof why nonbinary acting categories aren’t effective. Ten nominees, one winner in each category and both are women. Flee was a better LGBTQ film than The Power of the Dog, but The Power of the Dog was the better film? These selections are pretty meh. AwardsTallies (4) Flee…

There was a bit of a delay in getting these winners. Ever since the Academy eliminated the Sound Effects category, this event has gotten less attention than it deserves. No one feature dominated, but Dune carried the day in the category most often associated with the old Oscar category. Meanwhile, the next most aligned, Feature…

Even if all their choices weren’t the best in their categories, you have to respect them sticking to their guns and not succumbing entirely to the hype that has been building around certain other contenders. Some races become pretty clear and others become fuzzy. And kudos for picking The Power of the Dog for Best…

With these awards, BAFTA simplifies Oscar prognostication by landing on most of our perceived frontrunners or runners-up. The Power of the Dog came out on top with only two awards while Dune nabbed 5. CODA and West Side Story also got two apiece. Will Smith, Troy Kotsur, and Ariana DeBose shift towards sure things at…

And there we have the least influential Spirit Awards in years. Everything went largely as expected. AwardsTallies (3) The Lost Daughter (2) Passing, Zola (1) 7 Days, CODA, Pig, Red Rocket, Shiva Baby, Summer of Soul The Awards

While Dune pulled in the most awards, it was The Power of the Dog that took the biggest prizes with four out of the top six awards losing on in Best Supporting Actress to Ariana DeBose and it wasn’t nominated in Best Actress. It’s an interesting list of winners that reverse course on some of…
