Synopsis:

From IMDb: “A quirky internet star, a pair of retired gangsters, and the black sheep of a prolific family of herbalists are a few of the oddball tenants that call the dilapidated apartments of Humble Grove home. Fearful of being locked out by a ruthless property developer with his eye on the building, they’ve stayed inside for years. So, when supernatural incidents befall them all on one night, instead of running, they turn to flamboyant ghost hunter Golden Ling to perform a most unusual exorcism.”

Review: (#1) The background lacks detail and the foreground is interesting, but not very consequential. (#2-#4) These “character” posters vary in background color and image selection, but they don’t feel very impactful or exciting. (#5) Interesting texture and image construction make this an compelling, even if simplistic, design. (#6) This is a bit too psychedelic for its own good. It’s not likely anyone would want to look at this one for long. (#7) While the glittery background is unimpressive, the construction of the foreground and insertion of the images into the spectacles make for a more compelling design.

Trailer Rating: C

Review: This Lunar New Year trailer is bizarre, which is part-and-parcel for this type of feature, but it won’t necessarily increase viewership, especially with the subtitles so incredibly tiny and far too quickly passing.

Oscar Prospects:

None.
