Review: It’s a simple wall with the notorious skater staring at us obviously unimpressed. While it captures the tone of the character from the film, it isn’t the kind of design that draws an audience.

Trailer Rating: C / C+ / C+

Review: (#1) Are we supposed to care about Tonya Harding in this trailer? We know there’s figure skating going on and a brief reference to her hired-beating of Nancy Kerrigan, but there’s little in this trailer so far to even indicate if it’s a comedy or a drama or both and why we should even care.

(#2 & #3) Two nearly identical trailers, one a red band with a bit more foul language in it, that still don’t seem to capture the excitement that would be needed to bring people to the theaters. There’s a lot of drama and there may be quite a few people who remember the whole Tonya Harding affair, but are there enough who are interested enough to make the film a success? These trailers aren’t going to sufficiently encourage that.

Oscar Prospects:

There’s already chatter about star Margot Robbie as an Oscar nominee and her co-star Allison Janney as Best Supporting Actress. Wins are unlikely, but nominations may be increasingly likely.
