Review: (#1) This Italian poster design is the among the best of the ones found for this film. It features Armie Hammer’s character in various poses that evoke the internal debate and turmoil surrounding a man trapped in the desert. (#2) What helps this poster work is that the sand blends relatively effortlessly into the visage that dominates the film. Unfortunately, the blending is imperfect and perhaps a bit too pushy. (#3) Nothing is quite so dull as a sandstorm with nothing else of visual merit.

(#4) This one is both more pointed and more subtle than the previous designs. While there is not suggestion of an internal survival monologue, the sandstorm is less dominant and the ripped American flag is more thematically intriguing. (#5) This is a slightly more close up version of design #3, which means it’s simultaneously more and less interesting.

Trailer Rating: B-

Review: While it doesn’t quite have the claustrophobic feel of a Buried, it’s clear there are distinct similarities here. That said, while there are some interesting concept at play in the trailer, everything seems to play out predictably, which could hinder the film’s performance potential.

Oscar Prospects:

None.
