Release Date:

January 3, 2014

Synopsis:

From IMDb: “After being “marked,” Jesse begins to be pursued by mysterious forces while his family and friends try to save him.”

Poster: C / C

Review: The first poster design went off the beaten path for the Paranormal Activity franchise. It highlights the religious/possession overtones, but doesn’t really hype the franchise. The second design returns to a familiar style, which enables the viewer to better associate the film with its predecessors, and coming out a different time of year makes for a difficult sell (especially with a direct-line sequel coming out later in the year). The design does depart from the bedroom-focused elements of its predecessors, which does set it apart, but not enough to be distracting.

Trailer: D+

Review: Which is the parody? This film or Ghost Team One. The latter film is positioned as a comedy/parody of the Paranormal Activity films intended to draw in a newly energized Hispanic audience base. This trailer almost looks like they’ve cribbed from Ghost Team‘s playbook, making Ghost Team seem significantly more relevant and even more interesting than this lame retread/thrill seeker.

Oscar Prospects:

None.
