Poster: C+ / C+ / C- / C / D+ (2)

Review: For a small, indie Aussie film, six posters seems a bit much. The first is probably the best design to use to sell the film since it features both main characters and a good tagline. The second design might be the more interesting even if it isn’t much different from the first. The third is poorly constructed, using character images that are utterly unflattering. The fourth is interesting, but won’t do much to entice an audience. The fifth and sixth are similar, though not precisely character posters since they have no unifying theme. Neither is particularly eye-catching.

Trailer: B / C

Review: Any attempt to be stylish and succeeding deserves some recognition. The problem is that the trailer goes so overboard on style that it forgets to tell us what the film’s about. That can be a problem when it comes to selling your film.

(#2) David Michod is a fascinating director, but whoever put this trailer together doesn’t know how to sell his style. This horrendous, plodding trailer doesn’t make for an exciting premise and even the actors don’t seem like they are that interested in being there, which won’t win it points.

Oscar Prospects:

None.
