Synopsis:

From IMDb: “An aspiring singer-songwriter’s life and marriage suffer when the song he writes for his wife propels him to stardom.”

Poster: B+ / B

Review: The stylistic concept of the two designs are identical. The only difference is adding the third character. This seems utterly unnecessary, but probably came at the behest of producers wanting to better highlight the rivalry between the two women. What’s most fascinating for a small-budget Christian-targeted film, is that the film’s theme are perfectly evoked in the image. If you ignore the reflection it won’t make much sense, but the reflections alone give it a brilliant plot-oriented evocation, which makes them far better than I might have ever expected.

Trailer: C+

Review: The trailer drags on interminably, trying to tell the entire story within the span of two minutes. That minimizes the creative impact of the film and its over-reliance on Biblical reference will definitely keep the film from broadening its audience. That may be for the best since the film is likely to evoke passages and references to the Bible or heavily obeisance to God. That aside, the idea is strong enough to shed those references and still be an interesting film, although the acting does seem to need a lot of work. They are attractive actors, which would be enough to ignore their acting for many viewers. It’ll be even more popular with country music fans even if it didn’t have the religious connection.

Oscar Prospects:

None.
