Review: Red, white, and blue used differently than expected. It’s certainly a nice change of pace, though the black-and-white characters feels like a bridge too far.

Trailer Rating: C- / C / B

Review: (#1 & #2) The high-level overview (#1) and the modestly humorous second shot (#2) paint the picture of a film that is heavily uneven in tone, weak in political commentary, but ultimately features a strong central performance that could be worth catching.

(#3) This trailer creates a certain feeling of newness that the other trailers didn’t have. There are new scenes and the film feels like a tighter comedy than it did previously.

Oscar Prospects:

Will it be eligible for Oscar? Will Netflix push Brad Pitt for Best Actor? It’s possible and he’s popular enough to make the list, but the Academy doesn’t love comedy as much as it should, especially dark comedy.
