Synopsis:

From IMDb: “In 1988, a teenage girl’s life is thrown into chaos when her mother disappears.”

Poster: C / D

Review: (#1) Focusing on star Shailene Woodley will certainly help bring it to the attention of her myriad fans, but the design is otherwise weak and bland, not even doing an adequate job conjuring images of the film’s title.

(#2) At least with the first design, you had elements of the film’s title that seemed fluid and visually striking, even if it was a bit sparse. This second design makes me wish I had given a better rating to the first. This design is generic, frustrating and utterly unappealing.

Trailer: B-

Review: The trailer presents a film that looks almost bizarre, a faint invocation of the work of the Coen Brothers, but without the snappy dialogue. The premise itself doesn’t look too inventive and predicting the film’s outcome may not be too difficult from watching the trailer.

Oscar Prospects:

None.

(October 19, 2014) New Poster (#2)
